What is culture and how geography influenced culture?
It is broad term which encompasses the social behavior, institutions, and norms found in human societies. Culture is often originated from or attributed to a specific region or location.
Culture is largely influenced/ shaped by geography and by the topographical features of the landscape, the climate, and the natural resources. Geography shapes how cultures interact with each other, what they need for food, shelter, and clothing, and how they choose to express themselves.
Examples: If you live in the mountains, you’re likely to develop a particular culture that adapts to life at a high altitude. For example, you might wear heavier clothing and tend to be physically stronger as a result of climbing often.
Does Geography shape our identity?
Geography is also important in shaping the identities of individuals. It is therefore seen that there is a direct relationship between geography and identity. People develop their identity according to the region and climate conditions they live in.
