J B Kriplani (Jivatram Bhagwandas Kriplani) was a prominent Indian freedom fighter and politician. He was born on November 11, 1888, in Hyderabad, Sindh (now in Pakistan) and passed away on March 19, 1982, in New Delhi, India.
Kriplani was actively involved in India’s struggle for independence from British rule and was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. He served as the President of the Indian National Congress in 1947, following the resignation of Pattabhi Sitaramayya.
After India gained independence, Kriplani remained active in politics and served as a Member of Parliament in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. He was also a strong advocate of socialism and played a key role in the formation of the Socialist Party of India in 1948.
Kriplani was known for his simplicity and integrity, and was highly respected by his colleagues and the public. He was a prolific writer and wrote several books on politics, philosophy, and religion.
